Between 24 and 26 January 2017, the Karlsruhe Trade Fair Centre hosted LearnTec 2017, among the world’s largest events for practitioners and researchers in digital education, involving both industry and academia. LearnTec features a fair with 250 exhibitors as well as a conference where selected speakers present the latest in learning technology to an audience of more than 7.250 attendees over the course of the event. Stefan Dietze (LUH) participated as invited speaker during the LearnTec conference and presented AFEL-related research as part of the “Big Data in Learning Analytics” session of the conference, combining two of the most hyped topics in digital education at present.

His talk defined the scope for big data in learning analytics and introduced some recent AFEL-related research results in that context and was well-received and -attended and concluded a lively Q&A session.
