Open Data for Education book
A key distinction between AFEL and other Learning Analytics-related projects is that it focuses on ‘Everyday Learning’: Informal or incidental learning that happens outside of educational platforms and systems. For this reason, Open Data are critical to us as a way to collect information about the resources available not only in a specific system but also globally. It is therefore very timely that the Book “Open Data for Education Linked, Shared, and Reusable Data for Teaching and Learning” just got published by Springer. Edited by Dmitry Mouromtsev and Mathieu d’Aquin (the coordinator of AFEL), this book gives an overview of the practices in the area, including concrete examples of applications of open data for learning and teaching, from various authors, including AFEL members such as Stefan Dietze and Besnik Fetahu.
