AFEL users can monitor their own progress in the range of topics they are learning about and identify possible improvements. The mobile app (see right, applied to the Didactalia.net platform) shows learners which are the prominent topics in their learning, how they have been progressing according to a variety of indicators in each topic, as well as resources to consider to further their learning in each topic. They can also set their own learning goals with respect to learning indicators and be reminded of their progress.
Friends, family and teachers can also help, as learners can share their data, which can then be used in a range of visual analytics tools (see below).
We currently have three types of indicators in the app/dasboard:
- Coverage: How much new resources introduce concept unseen before in a learning scope
- Diversity: See next presentation
- Complexity: How complex are resources being used within a learning scope
